Step 1: Starting a new prospect import

  1. Go to Imports from the left-hand navigation.
  2. Click New import in the top right.
  3. From the dropdown, choose Prospect.

This will take you to the Prospect new contacts filter view.

Step 2: Setting filters for your preliminary audience

You’ll now see a range of filters you can apply to define your initial audience. These filters are powered by Apollo and come with a predefined, limited set of options based on Apollo’s dataset structure. This stage is meant for creating a rough preliminary audience. You can further narrow down and refine this audience later using FirstQuadrant’s AI qualification.

Company filters

  • Company headcount
  • Company HQ (headquarters location)
  • Industry (fixed list from Apollo)
  • Keywords (used sparingly; they rely on social media descriptions and may be noisy)
  • Revenue and funding: includes fields like funding rounds, total funding amount, annual revenue, and trading status

Role and personal filters

  • Current employment: job title, management role, current employer
  • Company domains: restricts results to contacts at specific domains
  • Previous employments: job title and employer history
  • Department
  • Location: refers to the location of the person, not the company

Advanced filters (for both company and person)

  • Technologies used
  • Exclude industries / locations
  • Open positions: job titles and hiring locations
  • Number of positions posted (with optional date ranges)
  • Exclude job titles / employers / locations

Step 3: Previewing your audience

Before finalizing your filters:

  1. Click Preview on the top right.
  2. A list of contacts that match your filters will be shown.
  3. Review the results—if the contacts don’t seem relevant, adjust your filters.

Step 4: Finalizing the prospect import

Once satisfied:

  1. Click Select filters to continue.
  2. You’ll be redirected to the Import settings page.
    • The selected prospect filters will be saved.
    • You’ll see the total number of prospects found.
  3. You can later click Edit next to “Prospect filters” to modify your filters if needed.

Note: Details on how the import settings page works—such as enrichment rules, scheduling, and activation—are explained in a separate article.
